Natural Disasters – how quickly can you respond?

BorderLoos and Event Hire is well experienced in responding quickly for temporary facilities, either for use by affected residents or emergency service workers. Mobile toilets, showers, temporary storage and a wide range of other products can usually be delivered and installed within hours. Emergency Planning – how can you help?

We will assign a dedicated account manager to work with local Emergency Planners and ensure that they have a complete portfolio of our products and services. BorderLoos and Event Hire works closely with Government departments, the MOD, and Local Authorities and will provide a fast response including delivery and installation where required.

How do I evaluate how many toilets are required in an Emergency?

To give you an idea of the number of toilet facilities needed, you can find usage chart on our detailed specification sheets. These are given as an indication only and will vary dependent on short or long term usage. Your dedicated Customer Account Manager will work with you to ensure the correct solution is specified.

Please also remember to make provision for toilets with disabled access and/or baby changing facilities where necessary.

How do I know which style of toilet or shower to select?

We have a wide range of toilet and shower facilities to suit most applications. Showers are available either Gas or Electric.

What access is required to the site?

Your intended site should have good access with firm level ground. If you think that your site access may be difficult, please alert us at the time of booking and we will allocate the correct type of vehicle for the location. We can arrange an emergency site visit if required.

What methods of hand washing are supplied?

All BorderLoos facilities are fitted with integrated sink units. Warm water is available with many of our toilet units in addition to soap dispensers or hand hygiene anti-bacterial cleanser.

What do I need to provide for the toilets/showers to operate?

Re-circulating toilet trailers are all self-contained, requiring only connection to a power supply from either the mains 16amp / 3.5kVa or a generator.

Maintaining site water pressure is critical for any event and BorderLoos can supply 1000ltr water cubes (not suitable for drinking) where no mains water is available.

Do I need to provide any water?

Re-circulating trailers are all self-contained but a water supply, usually a hose pipe, is advised to refill the fresh water tank during heavy usage.

Does BorderLoos supply electricity generators?

Not as a rule, although we can advise on the provision of a suitable generator.

Do I need to provide drainage?

Most of the units we provide are self contained therefore there is no need for any drainage facility on site.

Will the toilets require servicing?

This will be discussed at the planning stage to ensure you have the correct facilities. For emergency events lasting a number of days, we will specify a recommended service plan based on the projected usage.

Do I have to provide toilet rolls and other consumables?

BorderLoos provide all the consumables you will need as part of the tailored servicing plan.

What happens to the waste from the toilets or showers?

BorderLoos is a registered waste carrier and will ensure that all toilet waste will be collected from site and taken to an approved waste disposal facility.

Are there lights in the toilets?

The toilet trailers have lights fitted, the single self contained units, single shower units and multiple gents urinal units do not. However, the smaller units have translucent roofs or windows which give good daylight illumination. The units could also be sited beneath existing lighting on site which should provide lighting internally for evening use.

Will there be an emergency number for me to contact in the event that there is a problem?

Do I need to arrange insurance in case of damage or vandalism to the equipment?

It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that adequate insurance is taken out covering all facilities for the duration of the emergency event to cover damage and theft. BorderLoos offers excellent value damage waiver and you will be offered this at the time of booking.
